Holbeck Together supporting the community during the Covid-19 outbreak
17th March 2020In light of the current Covid-19 outbreak, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend our social activities and lunches, while we continue to monitor the developments and advice from professionals.
It has not been an easy decision, but our older clients’ health and wellbeing is our greatest priority.
Our focus is still on supporting local people but we will be shifting how we deliver it: stepping up support in many areas and adapting our approach according to need.
We will be moving our meal services to a home delivery model, delivering hot, nutritious meals to older or isolated individuals in Holbeck.
We will also be shopping for clients, ensuring that everyone has the provisions they need during this challenging time.
We are currently exploring how we can facilitate opportunities for social interactions and activities remotely. We’re open to suggestions, so if you have any ideas we’d love to hear about them.
We understand that as opportunities for face-to-face interactions become more limited for some, many people will experience increased isolation and feelings of loneliness.
If you know of someone who would benefit from our support, regardless of age, please give us a call on 0113 245 5553. The staff team will still be in, supporting clients by phone and out in the community.
If you are interested in lending a hand, there are lots of ways to contribute. Whether it’s shopping for someone who can’t get out, delivering meals, writing a letter or helping us in another way, we’d love to hear from you.
We know that people who have a car and could help out for even short periods would be of benefit to a number of charitable organisations locally.
Perhaps you aren’t able to spare any time but would like to contribute to the community, by covering a volunteers expenses or donating useful items.
It can be as simple as checking in on your neighbours. We have attached the #viralkindness slip created by Becky Wass, which you may have seen around. Small gestures can go a long way and we can all keep an eye on each other during this uncertain time.
The best way to contact us is by calling on 0113 245 5553, emailing admin@holbecktogether.org, or visiting us at The Old Box Office, 99 Domestic Street, Holbeck.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
